As part of our recently updated sustainability strategy, ITL appoints Jimmy Christopher as Group Sustainability Officer.
Prior to joining ITL, Christopher held various positions in Energy and Environmental Management including his most recent position at Change Pathways where he specialised in climate change mitigation projects. Christopher graduated from UCT in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently completing his Master’s degree in Climate Change and Sustainable Development.
Christopher will initially work with researching and redefining sustainability for the business. In addition, he will assist in formulating policies, strategies and plans to implement a cohesive sustainability initiative across the group. One of his projects is to complete a companywide Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory. To do this, he will engage with all ITL’s operations globally to determine all their sources of emissions and calculate their carbon footprint to minimise ITL’s impact on the environment.
“ITL recognises the need to contribute to the sustainability of the planets’ natural resources. We believe sustainable development means adopting business strategies, activities and processes that meet the needs of the business and its stakeholders today whilst protecting, sustaining and enhancing the human and natural resources that will be needed in the future. The appointment of Jimmy Christopher as a high calibre specialist resource supports these beliefs. We are thrilled to welcome him to ITL and look forward to the future.” Chris Currie – ITL COO
